Our web server temporarily store the following information in a log file:
– IP address of the accessing computer
– Date and time of access
– Name, URL and transferred data volume of the retrieved file
– Access status (i.e. file transferred, not found, etc.)
– Identification data of the browser and operating system used (if transmitted by the web browser)
– Web page from which the access was made (if transmitted by the web browser)
The data in the log file is processed as follows:
The log entries are continuously evaluated automatically in order to detect attacks on the web server and to be able to react accordingly.
In individual cases (i.e. in the event of reported malfunctions, errors and security incidents), a manual analysis is carried out.
Anonymized logs are used to create access statistics (see Retention Period). The software used for this is operated locally by the LRZ.
