Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC)

Since its creation in 2005, BSC has become a world-class hub for multidisciplinary research in Computer Sciences, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Computer Applications in Science and Engineering, and Computational Social Sciences and Humanities. The centre has played a pioneering role in shaping the European HPC landscape being one of the hosting entities for the pre-exascale systems of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU). At national level, BSC is active part of the Red Española de Supercomputación (RES) supporting research and innovation of universities and companies.

In the SEANERGYS project, BSC is contributing to the main pillars of the future EuroHPC software stack. It will contribute to the core components in the power monitoring, accounting and management software stack by extending the EAR software to support the APIs, protocols, and use cases resulting from the project. BSC will also extend the PyCOMPSs workflow framework to implement energy efficient strategies in this execution environment and extend the DLB framework to contribute in the system monitoring and application dynamic optimization by interacting with EAR and the rest of the components from other partners. As one of the hosting sites of a EuroHPC supercomputer, BSC will assist in the evaluation of the project contributions to guarantee the robustness and the TRL of the software generated in the project.
