Profile
Created in October 1945, CEA continues to push the frontiers of knowledge for the benefit of society. Today, its mission is to drive scientific progress, support France’s industrial revival, and strengthen both French and European technological sovereignty by tackling the major challenges of our century: energy and the environment, climate, health, defense and security, and digital technologies.
Across all these areas, the CEA plays a key role in delivering solutions expected by public authorities, industry, and citizens. Its strategic roadmap is built on three pillars — the energy and climate transition, digital technologies, and health — all grounded in world-class fundamental research.
TGCC is CEA’s main infrastructure for hosting scientific high-performance computing and Big Data equipment. This includes a supercomputer funded by GENCI for the European research community, the Computing Center for Research and Technology (CCRT), along with two different Quantum Computers. From 2027 onwards, TGCC will be the home of the French exascale machine Alice Recoque.
